Introductory Workshop: Consciousness-Raising Group for Women on Ageism & Sexism

Why don’t we feel proud of getting older? Why does it feel scary? We’re bombarded with negative messages: “It’s sad to be old. Wrinkles are ugly. Old people are useless.” The fear and anxiety we feel has a name: ageism — the judging, stereotyping, and discrimination directed at older people. It’s prejudice, and it’s harmful. Marketing tells us to buy anti-aging creams, fix our bodies, dye our hair. But aging is simply how we move through life. We deserve to feel proud of it — not afraid. Join us to unpack these messages together.

LWN will host a monthly consciousness-raising group starting in late October. We’ll read the book This Chair Rocks: A Manifesto Against Ageism, by Ashton Applewhite.
