Afterschool Programs
In both our choice and arts-based curriculums, students are supported to learn new skills, make friends, and experience the joy of childhood. All afterschool programs include a healthy snack, free play, and structured activity time.
Afterschool Program Facts
Our kindergarten afterschool is open to kindergarteners only and children must be at least 5 years old to begin attending. The program is based out of our main site at 20 Sacramento Street.
Curriculum
One of our choice-based programs, kindergarteners are offered a range of activities each day to suit different interests and energy levels. Choice offerings typically include a mix of sports, games, and arts and crafts. Each afternoon also includes a healthy snack and outdoor recess (weather permitting).
In the warmer weather, we try to be outside as much as possible around Sacramento Street (Alden Park, Sacramento Field, Baldwin School side lot) and in our spacious backyard.
Hours
The transition to afterschool begins at 2 PM, but your child’s start time will depend on their dismissal from school and arrival method. We are able to pick up students from the Baldwin School, or at the bus stop there if they attend a different Cambridge school, and walk them a few houses down the street to our Kindergarten program site at 20 Sacramento Street. Students are also welcome to be dropped off. All students must be signed out and picked up no later than 5:55 PM.
Early Release and Half Days
On CPS district early release days, our program will open 30 minutes early to welcome Wednesday students from their buses or after Baldwin School dismissal. We will close at our regular time, so caregivers are expected to pick up by 5:55pm as usual. On CPS district half days, our program will open 2 hours early and close at our regular time.
Tuition
Afterschool tuition is billed monthly and depends on the program and number of days per week for which your child is registered.

All of our afterschool programs will be available during this lottery period: Kindergarten, 1st-5th Choice-Based, 1st-5th Arts, and 6th-8th Arts Afterschool.
How many days of arts afterschool can I sign up for?
1st-5th graders can enroll in up to three days of arts afterschool. This can be combined with days in our choice-based afterschool. This year, we are only offering one day of arts afterschool for 6th-8th graders.
How long is the lottery period? Does it matter when I join?
The lottery period will begin on Monday, June 29th and close on Monday, July 6th. You can join at anytime during that period. We do not prioritize based on when families join the lottery.
Should I join the lottery for as many days as possible, even if I don’t want to enroll for all of them?
We only recommend this if you want to increase your chances of enrolling in multiple days of afterschool, and if you are flexible with any version of the schedule you might get. If you are only interested in specific days, we do not recommend you do this, as we are unable to account for preferences beyond what days families join the lottery.

Our 1st-5th grade programs are open to students in that grade range only. The program is based out of the Baldwin School and the Maud Morgan Arts building (behind our main building at 20 Sacramento Street).
Curriculum
For this age group, we have two different afterschool options and students can attend one or the other, or a combination of both!
Our first option is a choice-based program in the Baldwin School. In this program, students are offered a range of activities each afternoon that suit different interests and energy levels.
Our other option is an arts-based program in our studios at the Maud Morgan Arts Center. Students can participate in this program up to three days per week, either on its own or in combination with the choice-based program. In this program, students are assigned a class that rotates through different art media throughout the school year, such as ceramics, printmaking, painting and drawing.

It’s All About
Activites!

Choice-based
Many of our afterschool options are choice-based, which means that kids get to choose activities that interest and excite them! Options are tailored to meet all age groups and interests..
Sports & Games
Our sports activities aren’t just about the joy of movement and the fun of playing with friends (though there’s plenty of both!) They are also opportunities to learn important skills such as being part of a team and practicing good sportsmanship.
Visual Arts
We are proud to offer arts-focused afterschool options for 1st-8th grade students in our professional-quality studios at Maud Morgan Arts. These options provide students the opportunity to learn from talented artists and develop their skills in ceramics, printmaking, and other 2D and 3D art forms..
Music
In addition to the fun activities each afternoon, we also offer piano lessons (for an additional fee) at the Baldwin School for students in our 1st-5th grade program. These weekly lessons run the entire school year and end with a spring recital.
